Roan-Jasé is a tourist astronomical observatory located in a camping site called Los Nogales. The place has an educational center with a multipurpose room to give talks and do expositions, and a dome with several telescopes. The larger one has a 12-inch diameter mirror and is handled manually. It was made hand by two Chilean experts and is embedded to avoid vibrations. Also there are two electronic telescopes, one of five inches and another eight inches. The place also offers restaurant service and accommodation in cabins or camping.

From Santiago you can access by La Florida Avenue or Eyzaguirre Street from Puente Alto. When you reach Las Vizcachas, take the G-25 route until you reach the Plaza de Armas (the town's square) de San José de Maipo. From there you continue the route for 9 km until you reach km 43 to camping Los Nogales in El Melocotón.
The Roan-Jasé Observatory is the result of the work of a couple of tourist entrepreneurs, made up of Leopoldo Hoffmann and Manuela Bulnes. In 2009 they were invited to participate in a public fund, Capital Semilla of SERCOTEC, which they won and were able to develop their educational astronomy project. The name of the place Roan-Jasé are the initials of the names of the children of this marriage.
The project consists in educating students of educational establishments and tourists about the astronomy and the quality of the Chilean skies. The tour begins with a motivational talk given by Professor Jorge Muñoz. Then, in the field, he explains the map of the sky supported by a laser beam (powerful light able to cover about 4 or 5 km). Next, we proceed to the observation of space, using the various telescopes to know planets of the Solar System, stars and their constellations.
